A patient has suffered an injury to her right arm and has subsequently developed a nerve lesion. On examination of her right arm you note that she has weak wrist flexion. She is unable to abduct or oppose the thumb and she cannot flex the index and middle fingers. There is ulnar deviation at the wrist and noticeable thenar wasting. There is sensory loss over the radial side of the palm and over the radial three and a half fingers. She has ‘papal bendiction’ on flexing her fingers.
