A 50-year-old man presents with a nosebleed that started after blowing his nose 45 minutes ago. You reviewed him when he arrived 15 minutes ago and advised that he attempted to stop the bleeding by pinching the soft, cartilaginous part of the nose. He has been doing this since then, but his nose continues to bleed. On examination, you can clearly visualise bleeding points bilaterally in both nostrils.
Which of the following measures is most appropriate to try next? Select ONE answer only.
